Dairy Queen Sends Alan Cumming a Box of Vegan Ice Cream Bars

This week, vegan actor Alan Cumming received a box of vegan ice cream from chain Dairy Queen. In 2016, Cumming wrote a letter to Dairy Queen on behalf of animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) urging the chain to add a vegan option and was the face of PETA’s accompanying “Not a Dairy Queen” campaign. Four years later, Dairy Queen heeded the call with the introduction of a vegan version of its classic Dilly Bar—which features coconut milk-based ice cream enrobed in vegan chocolate—which will be available at participating locations nationwide starting today. “It’s a sign of the times when Dairy Queen goes dairy-free,” Cumming said. “I’m thrilled to join PETA in saying, ‘YAS, QUEEN!’ to DQ for responding to the demand for a vegan option that’s healthier, better for the planet, and kinder to cows.” Photo Credit: Mike Ruiz
